چکیده

The main aim of this study was to determine the kinetic energy and momentum coefficients of a small trapezoidal irrigation canal. A laboratory setup with a cyclic flow of water was used. The flow cross section was divided into ten equal sections with nine verticals in between. Pitot static tube was used to measure static and stagnation pressure heads at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 point on the verticals. These measurements were conducted at a depth corresponding to 0.1h, 0.2h, 0.4h, 0.6h 0.8h and 0.9h from the free surface of the water in the canal. The different between stagnation head and static head was used to compute the local instantaneous velocity at each measured point. Three different discharges ware used 3.5, 9.5, and 11.4 l/s. The results of the study reaffirms the non equal to unity of energy and momentum correction factors and that for regular canal the value of α range from 1.10 to 1.20 and β from 1.03 to 1.07. It is recommended that the energy and momentum correction factors be taken into consideration even for simple hydraulic analysis in open channel flow. Keywords-kinetic energy coefficient, momentum coefficient, open channel, Pitot static tube, dynamic head, static head, mean velocity

In this research, a two-dimensional mathematical model using  turbulence model was developed in a rectangular channel with granular permeable bed. Finite volume method was used for numerical solution of governing equations. The equations considered are discretized using Hybrid difference scheme while applying SIMPLE algorithm to correct velocity components in the continuity equation. In the dev...

Thermodynamic analysis of a magnetohydrodyamic oldroyd 8-constant fluid in a vertical channel with heat source and slippage

Thermodynamic analysis of a steady state flow and heat transfer of an Oldroyd 8-constant fluid with effect of heat source, velocity slip and buoyancy force under tranverse a magnetic field is is carried out in this paper. The model for momentum and energy balance is tackled numerically using Method of Weighted Residual (MWR). Partition method is used to minimize the associated residuals. The re...

اثر انتقال جانبی اندازه حرکت بر عمق آب شستگی اطراف پایه های کناری پل ها در مقاطع مرکب

Bridge abutments are usually located in the floodplain zone of rivers where velocity and shear stress are not uniformly distributed. The influence of channel geometry and lateral momentum transfer in compound flow field on the scouring phenomenon has not been fully investigated and understood yet. The impact of lateral momentum transfer on the local scour at abutments terminating in the floodpl...

Identification of Pressure and Velocity Correction Coefficients along Block-stones Ramp

Along a non-uniform flow in a stream or river, the pressure, energy, and momentum coefficients tend to vary from section to section. These coefficients also tend to vary with the water depth and discharge. Although some researchers provided some values of these coefficients for special conditions, their spatial variability in accelerated flow has not been adequately investigated. To simplify ca...

Target excitation and angular momentum transfer in reactions of E/A=11.9 MeV 28Si with 181Ta from 4 pi charged particle, neutron, and gamma -ray multiplicity measurements.

The conversion of kinetic energy into target-like fragment excitation and orbital angular momentum into fragment spin has been studied in the reaction 333 MeV Si with ' 'Ta. The light charged particles were detected in a small, highly segmented, 4m phoswich detector system placed in the spin spectrometer, a 4m NaI array which served as a neutron and gamma detector. Multiplicities of light charg...
